Parents of Young Drivers
Nothing’s quite as exciting as getting the keys to the car and heading out on your own for the very first time. But if you’re a parent with young drivers in the house, you probably know how nerve-wracking this can be as well. Driving is something many teenagers can't wait to do, but something many parents would like to put off for as long as possible.
It's natural to be a little anxious about this new phase in your child's life. There are lots of news stories about crashes involving young people and you may worry about the risks when young people are behind the wheel. Making sure that your son or daughter is a safe, considerate and responsible driver is probably your top priority and I'm here to help make sure that happens. Driving is a practical skill and therefore needs to be practiced. My approach is to spend more time driving, often in excess of 40 miles per lesson and less time sitting at the side of the road. The first few lessons will be spent off road to fully develop their control of the car before being introduced to traffic on public roads and then during the course of lessons I will take your loved ones further to new and different places to gain as much driving experience as possible before taking their test. It is also beneficial where possible that as a parent you offer your son or daughter the opportunity to drive your car or another car that they will have access to. There are a number of insurance schemes that you can take out to cover them and yourself and avoid having any additional impact on your personal vehicle insurance. One such scheme is offered by National Learner Driver Insurance. When test day comes around you can be confident that they will have all the necessary skills and experience required to pass the test and a life time of safe driving. |
